Bad weather «Philip»: which schools in Attica will be closed on Thursday

Some will remain closed schools of Attica on Thursday (10/03), following the coordination meeting held under the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Christos Stylianidis, for the optimal coordination of all actors and to address the impact of the bad weather “Philip”.

Specifically, the meeting resulted in a recommendation that schools will remain closed tomorrow, Thursday 10 March, in areas of northern, eastern and western Attica. The specific areas are expected to be announced by the Region of Attica and the relevant municipalities.

The meeting was held with the participation of the Deputy Minister of Interior, Stelios Petsas, the Deputy Minister of Citizen Protection, Lefteris Economou, the Deputy Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Evangelos Tourna, the Secretary General of Civil Protection, Vassilios Papageorgiou, the Deputy Secretary General of Civil Protection, George Karagiannis, as well as the Regional Governors of Attica, George Patoulis and Central Greece, Fani Spanos. The President of the KEDE, Dimitris Papastergiou, also participated.

In the context of the meeting and following a detailed briefing by the Director of the National Meteorological Service (EMY), Theodoros Kolydas, specific preventive measures for the regions of Attica and eastern Central Greece were examined.

The meeting was also attended by the President of EKAB, Nikos Papaevstathiou, the Chief of the Fire Brigade, Lieutenant General Alexios Rapanos, the Deputy Chief of the Fire Brigade, Lieutenant General Ioannis Petroitsos, the Major General of ELAS, Eleftherios Garilas, the Commander of the Attica Traffic Police Directorate, Brigadier General Spyridon Laskos, representatives of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, as well as the Director General of Coordination of the General Secretariat of Civil Protection, Phoebus Theodorou. In addition, representatives of the concessionaires of the National Road Network Management (Nea Odos SA / Central Odos SA, Morea SA, Olympia Odos SA, Attiki Diadromes SA), as well as the CEO of DEDDIE, Anastasios Manos, participated.
