A one-hour teleconference with the Minister of the Interior, Mr. Makis Voridis, had the Mayor of Kythera Mr. Efstratios Harhalakis, on Monday, January 10, 2022. Current issues regarding the Municipality of Kythira such as the progress of the proposals in the “TRITSIS” program”, the urban planning service process after March 1, as well as institutional issues concerning island municipalities, such as the hiring of permanent staff, the process for approving traffic regulations, and the classification of islands by population, which, based on current data, leads to funding inequities.
The Minister placed particular emphasis on the need to strengthen the Municipal Port Funds with permanent staff To this end, the Mayor of Kythira, in his capacity as Chair of the Islands Committee of KEDE, will initiate cooperation with all municipalities that have municipal port funds, so that a comprehensive proposal can be submitted in the coming months.
