According to meteo.gr, the weather conditions will be locally intense, mainly in Western Greece, Eastern Macedonia, and Thrace, and in some cases will be accompanied by Hail.
The heaviest hailstorms will occur in Eptanisa, while there is a chance of hail in some areas of the western mainland, in the Northeastern Aegean Sea and in Thrace. In fact, in the Ionian Islands, hailstones may be relatively large in some areas.
We expect local showers after noon and, mainly in the evening, scattered thunderstorms in Attica and the city of Athens, conditions that will continue intermittently until Saturday afternoon.

THESSALONIKI
Weather: Clouds will quickly increase, bringing rain; scattered thunderstorms are expected in the afternoon and evening, possibly intense at times in the eastern part of the prefecture.
Winds: Southerly 4 to 5, temporarily up to 6 Beaufort; from the evening, variable 3 to 4 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 05 to 16 degrees Celsius.
MACEDONIA, THRACE
Weather: Cloudy with local showers that will gradually intensify; starting in the afternoon, scattered thunderstorms will develop in central and eastern Macedonia and Thrace, where the weather will be severe in some areas. Light snow will fall in the mountains.
Winds: Southerly 4 to 6, locally reaching 7 Beaufort in the east; from this evening, variable winds of 3 to 4 Beaufort in the west.
Temperature: From 04 to 17 degrees Celsius. In western Macedonia, from 00 (zero) to 11 degrees Celsius.
IONIAN ISLANDS, EPIRUS, WESTERN GREECE, WESTERN PELOPONNESE
Weather: Cloudy with rain and thunderstorms, some of which will be severe. Light snow is expected in the mountainous areas of Epirus.
Winds: Southerly winds of 5 to 7 Beaufort, and locally 8 Beaufort in the Ionian Sea, with winds easing slightly in the evening.
Temperature: From 08 to 17 degrees Celsius. In the interior of Epirus, 3 to 5 degrees lower.
THESSALIA, EASTERN CENTRAL GREECE, EASTERN PELOPONNESE
Weather: Clouds will quickly increase, bringing local showers and scattered thunderstorms.
Winds: Southerly at 5 to 7, gradually increasing to 8 Beaufort locally in the east and south.
Temperature: From 08 to 19 degrees Celsius. In the north, it will be 2 to 3 degrees lower.
CYCLADES, CRETE
Weather: Cloudy with local showers and scattered thunderstorms. Conditions will intensify overnight.
Winds: Southerly, 5 to 7, gradually reaching 8 Beaufort locally.
Temperature: From 12 to 21 degrees Celsius.
EASTERN AEGEAN ISLANDS – DODECANESE
Weather: Cloudy with local showers and scattered thunderstorms. Conditions will intensify starting in the afternoon.
Winds: Southerly, 5 to 7, gradually reaching 8 Beaufort locally.
Temperature: 12 to 20 degrees Celsius. In the north, the high will be 2 to 3 degrees lower.
Euboea
Weather: Clouds will quickly increase, bringing local showers and scattered thunderstorms.
Winds: Southerly 5 to 7, gradually increasing to 8 Beaufort locally in the south.
Temperature: From 09 to 18 degrees Celsius.
Recommendations from the General Secretariat for Civil Protection regarding the upcoming severe weather over the next 24 hours
Recommendations to citizens to be especially careful, ensuring that taking measures self-protection from risks resulting from the manifestation of severe weather events, is addressed by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection.
In particular, in areas where severe rainfall, storms, or strong winds, or GGP recommends that citizens:
- Secure objects that could cause damage or injury if swept away by severe weather conditions.
- Ensure that the gutters and downspouts of residences are not blocked and are functioning properly.
- Avoid crossing streams and creeks, on foot or by vehicle, during storms and rainfall, as well as for several hours after they have ended.
- Avoid outdoor work and activities in marine and coastal areas during severe weather events (risk of lightning strikes).
- Take immediate shelter during a hailstorm. Take refuge in a building or car and do not leave the safe area until you are sure that the storm has passed. Hailstorms can also be very dangerous for animals.
- Avoid walking under large trees, hanging signs, and generally areas where light objects (e.g., flower pots, broken glass, etc.) may become detached and fall to the ground (e.g., under balconies).
- Follow the instructions of the local authorities, such as the traffic police, etc., to the letter.
The General Secretariat for Civil Protection (www.civilprotection.gr) of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, has notified the relevant government agencies involved, as well as the country’s regional and municipal authorities, to maintain a heightened state of civil protection readiness so that they can immediately address the impacts of these severe weather events.
