An alarm has been sounded in the AHEPA hospital, because of a series of coronavirus outbreaks, to medical and nursing staff who have fully vaccinated.
Specifically, on Sunday, September 5, 7 positive cases were detected in fully vaccinated health workers of the hospital, of which one was a doctor and the other six were nurses.
The seven health professionals showed symptoms of covid-19 infection caused by the disease SARS-CoV-2 of the new coronavirus and subsequently, they were subjected to PCR test in Department of Infectious Diseases, which, in all cases, was positive. All of the health protocols and the seven sanitation workers were removed from duty.
The news was confirmed by the president of the AHEPA Employees' Association, Charalambos Koroxenos, who claimed that the actual number of positive cases may be higher.
What happens if a positive fully vaccinated hospital worker is found
The president of the AHEPA Employees' Association explained that when vaccinated employees develop symptoms of coronavirus, or have come into contact with a positive case, they are taken to the Infectious Diseases Department and undergo PCR testing. If they are found to be positive, they are removed from the workplace and their family members are notified immediately.
And in view of the change of regime in hospitals and their operation only with vaccinated staff, Charalambos Koroxenos noted that «there is no longer any decontamination - this was the case when there were unvaccinated people - simply, people who have been in close contact are tested and generally told to be vigilant».
