SYRIZA: Mr. Mitsotakis has decided to divide Greek society

In a statement on vaccinations, SYRIZA argues that "the government is shifting the blame for its failure onto the citizens and society.".

«In the midst of her panic over the mess she has created, the Mr. Mitsotakis's government »continues to fuel the deepest divisions among citizens," states the SYRIZA-PS.

He accuses the New Democracy that «once again, it is shifting the blame for its failure onto the citizens and society,» noting that «Mr. Skertsos’s extremely divisive statement is Mr. Mitsotakis’s strategy.».

The official opposition argues, in particular, that «Mr. Mitsotakis has decided to divide Greek society in order to hide his tragic failures:

1. That in the middle of summer, the percentage of people who are fully vaccinated is below 40%, even though Mr. Mitsotakis had promised 70% by June.

2. That while the entire world is warning about the ‘Delta’ variant, in Greece they’re telling us to throw away our masks and insist on sending contradictory messages that foster complacency.

3. That for months now, it has been sending a false sense of security by presenting a misleading picture through creative accounting and deceptive vaccination figures, solely to create a fictitious success story.

4. That he allegedly spent tens of millions on public awareness campaigns for the vaccination, but in essence, it amounts to financial blackmail of the media to get them to glorify him.

5. That with all the back-and-forth regarding the AstraZeneca and his crass attempt to win over young people under the pretext of the vaccine has, in and of itself, sown doubts among citizens and provided ammunition to anti-vaxxers.

6. That It has no plan to restart dining services and passes the buck to the store owners and threatens them.

7. That seven months after the vaccine became available, the problem of vaccinating citizens with mobility issues has still not been resolved.

8. That one and a half years after the pandemic, », instead of strengthening primary care—a necessary condition for accelerating vaccination and tackling the pandemic—they are planning to privatize National Health System services.".

SYRIZA calls on all citizens «to ignore Mr. Mitsotakis’s incomprehensible decision to create a divide between the vaccinated and the unvaccinated.».

«We urge them to get vaccinated—not because of senseless blackmail or equally senseless motives, but because the greatest incentive is their own lives,» he emphasizes.
