Tsirigo suffered two more losses, plunging the community into grief. Eleni Kasimati Stathi and Eleni Kalligerou Doukidi lost their battle with the coronavirus. George Kasimatis (from Drymonia) wrote a few words and shared them on his personal account:
«Drymonas weeps and mourns today for its two Helenas, so dearly loved… May Paradise be their final resting place… Helena Kasimati-Stathi, Eleni Kalligerou-Doukidi. Both have passed away, struck down by the accursed virus of our unfortunate times, at the same time last night, in Athens, where they lived. My beloved cousins, Drymonas—where you spent so many beautiful moments during our childhood, a place you loved so dearly—is shrouded in double mourning today. May your journey be smooth on the roads to the infinite. The alleys of Drymonas still bear the fresh traces of your footsteps, which you left there so recently. You left us far too soon! Farewell! We love you very much—don’t forget that. Take care…up there…».
The Kythira Brotherhood of Piraeus-Athens issued a statement regarding the death of Eleni Kasimati-Stathi. The deceased was a prominent member of the association and had served in administrative positions there, as well as at the Trifyllio Foundation of Athens. The announcement states: «The Board of Directors of the Kythira Brotherhood of Piraeus–Athens expresses its sorrow at the loss of its esteemed member, Eleni Stathi.”.
