More beneficiaries this year for the heating allowance starting from EUR 100 and going up to EUR 1,600 under certain conditions. Especially this year, when the energy crisis and precision are strangling households, a great deal of interest is expected, while there are many who have abandoned natural gas and turned to oil for heating this winter. The government has already given a timetable and a Joint Ministerial Decision clarifying the details is expected within a few days.
However, according to what is known so far, beneficiaries should pay particular attention to the «fine print» in order not to lose the money they are entitled to, but also not to miss the first payment. In particular, it is possible to make the following mistakes that could put you off budget:
- This year, double the amount is due to new beneficiaries. Those who did not apply last year or those who abandoned other heating fuels to switch to oil. These beneficiaries will receive double the benefit, but to qualify for it, they must be aware that they have lower income criteria than others: That is, €14,000 for the single person and €20,000 for the married person.
- For those old beneficiaries we know that the first instalment will be given in early December - around the 10th of December in particular. You will be included in the first payment if you have submitted your application on the AADE myheating platform by the end of November.
- All beneficiaries are required to produce proof of purchase of fuel worth twice the amount of the allowance.
Heating allowance: The beneficiaries
Beneficiaries of the allowance are around 1.3 million households and assets have been expanded. The maximum amount a household can receive is €800, up from €750 last year, and the minimum is €100. Those entitled to twice as much will receive up to 1,600 euros.
The income criteria are increased for old beneficiaries:
- to 16,000 euros for the unmarried person
- EUR 24,000 for a married person with an increase of EUR 3,000 for each child
For new beneficiaries:
- At last year's levels of €14,000 and €20,000
The property criteria are as follows:
The criterion for the amount of real estate will probably be increased from 180,000 euros to the 200,000 euro range, in order to cover those who lose it due to the increase in the new property prices. The property value criterion for married couples will remain at 300,000 euros.
Heating allowance: the necessary documents
When you apply, you must enter in the application MY DOCUMENTS your purchases.
The data required are:
- the number of the receipt for the purchase of fuel items
- the amount/value of the transaction
- the VAT number of the company selling the heating fuel
- the name of the undertaking selling the heating fuel.
Where the beneficiaries pay the heating costs through public utility charges, then they are registered, additionally the above and the following:
- the number of the receipt for the payment of public utility charges or, alternatively, the number of the receipt for the payment of public utility charges (if no receipt has already been issued at the time of submission of the application)
- the VAT number of the manager or the person representing the building or the management company of the building
- the amount due to the beneficiary.
In contrast to the heating oil markets, in the other types of fuel the VAT number and the power supply number do not matter.
How to apply for a heating allowance
To apply at myheating (CLICK HERE) the platform must be opened first. It is estimated that this will happen in early November.
You will then choose whether to submit Application to join the Register of Beneficiaries of the Benefit, acting as a Beneficiary / Candidate Beneficiary of the Allowance or whether you will declare the kilograms of heating costs among the tenants of a block of flats acting as a Manager-Representative of the tenants.
You can apply to be included in the register of beneficiaries of the heating allowance or declare the millimetres of your heating costs in the block of flats and benefit, as long as you consume for heating:
- diesel fuel
- natural gas or LPG
- firewood or biomass (pellets)
What to do:
- Select «submit application» and log in with your Taxisnet codes
- select «Declaration of interest»
- choose the fuel you consume
- fill in the power supply number
- choose whether you live in a single-family house or a block of flats
- select whether you are an owner or a tenant (fill in the VAT number of the owner)
- fill in a valid and active bank account number (IBAN) where the allowance will be credited
