The popular messaging app WhatsApp has stopped working for many users around the world, and users across India, the United Kingdom, France, South Africa, and Asia are reporting problems sending and receiving text messages and videos.
«We know that some people are currently having trouble sending messages, and we're working to restore WhatsApp for everyone as soon as possible,» said a spokesperson for Meta Platforms, the company that owns WhatsApp.
In France, approximately 9,540 cases have been reported in the last 24 hours.
The Downdetector website also reported that more than 11,000 users across India have reported problems with WhatsApp, while the numbers in the United Kingdom stood at 68,000 and in Singapore at 19,000 around 10:50 a.m. (Greek time).
Downdetector tracks outages by compiling reports from a number of sources. The outage has likely caused problems for a large number of users.
