A few days ago, when I was in Kythira, I heard about the «upcoming» work on the sewer system in Piso Gialos.
I wondered: Is that even possible?;
Now that it's the summer—tourist season?;
How will the residents of Piso Gialos get around?;
How will a person with a disability who lives at the end of Piso Gialos get around? (I heard, though, that a solution has been found for this problem: a representative from the project contractor will carry this person in his arms. What a hero!!!!!!!)
How will the small tourism and hospitality businesses in Piso Gialos manage? Who will compensate them for their loss of income? The mayor?;
Where will all those cars belonging to visitors to Kapsali park? On peak days, they even end up parking beyond the disinfection station, given that, even though you are working so hard on this, Mr. Mayor, you have not yet managed to solve the parking problem in Kapsali And of course, if visitors have nowhere to park, they’ll leave—which means a loss of income for the other business owners in Kapsali as well. You must compensate them as well. And I’m sure that, since you’re such a conscientious mayor and someone who takes his responsibilities seriously, you’ll do so with great enthusiasm.
And today I read the mayor’s «HARD-HITTING – POIGNANT» POST on this issue.
ARROGANT – CHANGING – «COWBOY-LIKE» I'm the one who describes her.
A POST THAT IN NO WAY ADDRESSES THE PROBLEM.
I will get back to the heart of the matter. But first, I’d like to point out another incident: Mr. Mayor, at the meeting at City Hall regarding this issue, you excluded IOANNIS KALLIGEROS-ROGIS from the list of participants. Why, Mr. Mayor? You, who are so capable, didn’t have the guts (in Modern Greek, another word is used) to face someone who holds views contrary to your own, without resorting to your well-known method of threats and lawsuits?;
CONCLUSION: YOU CREATED THIS PROBLEM, MR. MAYOR, DUE TO INCOMPETENCE OR/AND NEGLIGENCE IN THE PROPER PLANNING OF THE PROJECT.
You will bear full responsibility for the emotional and material harm suffered by so many people who owed nothing to anyone to deserve what they are about to endure. AND THIS IS NOT JUST A «FAD,» Mr. Mayor.
Finally, I’d like to mention another decision that was made on a related matter: a sports center and a two-story underground parking garage will be built at the stadium in Chora. Some have called the decision «very smart.».
STUPIDITY are:
The project will never be written off.
During its construction (approximately 3 years), local business owners will suffer financial ruin, as there will be no place for visitors to park their cars. Or perhaps the mayor has an ace up his sleeve that he’s keeping hidden?
CHRYSANTHOS K. KALLIGEROS
