The war between Pagoni and Genimatas rages on! “We've put a blanket over the entire hospital.”

The president of EINAP made further statements after the hospital denied the reports regarding on-call shifts.

The “war” between the Matina Pagoni and the hospital “Genimatas”, following yesterday’s (November 8, 2021) statement by the president of EINAP regarding “St. Bartholomew’s Night” at the on-call duty station. The hospital administration denied the report in a press release.

“The last few days of a shift are very difficult. That night was tragic for the doctors and nurses. We set up cots throughout the hospital. When you’re not there, you don’t know how things were handled, how we set up the cots, or what cases were there—so it’s best not to issue press releases. Because, to issue them, you have to be there around the clock,” said Ms. Pagoni.

“The beds were for non-COVID cases. Since we’ve had to convert beds for COVID-19 patients, we were forced to use cots for non-COVID cases—there were so many patients who had come in. The shift ended with 21 COVID-19 cases; there were a great many non-COVID-19 cases—a total of 71 cases for the entire shift,” she explained.

“The cots have been brought in and are here; we will try to move the patients to beds. Furthermore, we are creating problems for the other clinics, and operations are very difficult,” Ms. Pagoni emphasized.

Regarding how last night went for the hospitals on call, she said that “Every morning at 8 a.m., we receive data from all the hospitals that were on call. Today we’ll receive the data on the situation at the hospitals that were on call yesterday. The doctors and nurses are fighting a tough battle.”.

The hospital's denial

Yesterday, the administration of the “G. Gennimatas” Hospital issued a statement refuting Matina Pagoni’s claims.

He stated in detail:

“Regarding statements made by the President of EINAP concerning on-call shifts on November 7–8, 2021, it should be clarified that the total number of Covid and non-COVID cases has remained stable compared to the previous on-call period, while COVID cases in particular have decreased (16 compared to 25 on October 30, 2021).”.

Regarding the auxiliary beds, 24 were set up during yesterday’s shift (35 during the shift on October 30). As discharge orders are issued, patients will be gradually transferred to the wards of the hospital’s clinical departments.

Finally, it should be noted that the hospital did not require, nor did it receive, any additional supplies (such as extra beds, etc.) from the General Hospital of N.Th. «SOTIRIA» or any other healthcare facility.”.
