In an official announcement, the Municipal Authority clarifies that parking restrictions are now fully in effect in accordance with Article 38 of the Highway Code (KOK). Particular emphasis is placed on the strict prohibition of parking any type of vehicle on the special guide paths for the blind (yellow line), on ramps for people with disabilities, as well as in designated parking spaces for municipal vehicles and Civil Protection vehicles.
Avlemonas, Chora, Fratsia, Mitata, and Kapsali
As emphasized by the Municipality, the inspections and restrictions apply to the entire island and, in particular, to key locations such as:
- His village Avelona, once the new configurations are complete.
- The area Belvedere in Chora.
- The Fratsion Square and the Mitata.
At the same time, please be reminded that the scheduled vehicle traffic restrictions are in effect on a daily basis and at specific times of the day in the following communities: Chora, Kapsali, Avlemonas, and Mitata, as specified in the relevant decisions and on the informational signs at the entrances to the villages.
Daily inspections and fines
Due to the significantly increased tourist traffic and heavy traffic on the island during the peak of the summer season, the Municipality of Kythira is calling on residents and visitors to strictly follow the rules.
At the same time, it makes clear that, to prevent abuses, daily inspections are conducted by the Greek Police, and that in the event of violations, the applicable administrative fines will be imposed immediately, along with the administrative and criminal penalties prescribed by law.
