Μια ξεχωριστή μουσική εκδήλωση αφιερωμένη στην Παναγία Μυρτιδιώτισσα, προστάτιδα των Κυθήρων, θα πραγματοποιηθεί την Πέμπτη 24 Σεπτεμβρίου 2026, στις 20:30, στον Ιερό Προσκυνηματικό Ναό της Παναγίας Μυρτιδιώτισσας.
The concert, titled «Kythira Honors Its Great Mother,» will feature hymns and traditional songs dedicated to the Virgin Mary, conducted by Archon Protopsaltis Grigoris Papaemmanouil, accompanied by a traditional orchestra.
Grigoris Papaemmanouil is the Chief Cantor of the Church of Alexandria, a music professor, and a performer with a long career in Byzantine and traditional music.
The event is organized by the Municipality of Kythira and the Committee for Local Property of Kythira and Antikythira, with the support of the General Secretariat for the Aegean and Island Policy.
Funding of 8,000 euros has been approved for the event by the General Secretariat for Aegean and Island Policy, according to a recent decision by the Municipal Committee.
The concert is being held to celebrate the feast of Panagia Myrtidiotissa on September 24, a day of special religious and symbolic significance for Kythira and Kythirians everywhere.
