June 30, 2026, marks a deeply moving moment and a milestone for healthcare in Kythira, as it marks the end of the long, highly successful tenure of a doctor who has become synonymous with service and safety on our island. We are referring to the General Surgeon, Mr. Paraskeva Tseminidi, who retired from active duty.
For 16 full years, Mr. Tseminidis served at the General Hospital and Health Center «Trifylleio» General Hospital and Health Center in Kythira, often going beyond human limits to meet the enormous needs of our remote healthcare infrastructure. During difficult times, marked by shortages and adverse conditions, his professional competence, self-sacrifice, and dedication to duty served as a safety net for the permanent residents and the thousands of visitors to Kythira and Antikythira.

In an official press release issued on July 1, 2026, the Administrative Service and the hospital director’s office warmly bid farewell to the experienced surgeon.

The 16-year-old’s gesture will not go unnoticed. The administration of «Trifyllio» has announced that the hospital will soon organize a special event to honor Mr. Tseminidis as he deserves, and a further announcement will be issued in the coming days.
