The municipal political group “Elefthera Kythira” issued a press release regarding the Case involving the complaint filed by Stavros Arvanitis, a forestry official from Kythira According to which it appears that the mayor of Kythira reported to his superior that he was using his position to canvass for votes in favor of the party leader, Mr. Anargyros Sofios. We have been informed that Mr. Charchalakis allegedly reported the Kythira Forest Service employee to his superior, claiming that the employee was using his position to canvass for votes in favor of our leader.
In any case, it is everyone’s democratic right to support whomever they choose, as long as they do not take advantage of their position.
This is something that, for example, the journalist Mr. Emm. Kalligeros did not do when he deliberately distorted, published, and ridiculed a statement by Mr. Sofios.
We are honored both by the personal support from Mr. Arvanitis and by the institutional slander from Mr. Kalligeros—which, strangely enough, did not bother us…
As for the forest issue, the mayor himself secured most of our votes when he took personal responsibility for not appealing the forest maps and led the people of Kythira either to lose their property or to file costlyand time-consuming individual appeals.
We’ll wrap up, then, with our warmest thanks, because as the elections draw near, it’s becoming clear in every way that we’re the best choice.
