One of LEX's most iconic songs makes the leap from lyrics to the screen and comes to Kythira.
The Thursday, August 27, at 8:00 p.m., in his garden Mercato Bar, there will be a presentation of the comic book «Apartment Buildings», based on a screenplay by Mi Delta and a drawing of it Dimitris-Chris Agaray, published by Little Hero.
The release, which came out in March 2026, draws its inspiration from «Polykatoikies,» the song of the same name by LEX from the album 2XXX from 2018, and attempts to capture on paper the urban landscape and, above all, the experience of an entire generation that came of age during the years of the economic crisis.
From LEX's song to a 52-page story
At the center of the story is the Municipality, who, in crisis-stricken Thessaloniki, receives an unexpected phone call and is asked to visit his father, with whom he has had no contact for years.
Their encounter brings old guilt and secrets to the surface and serves as the starting point for a journey through the city and the protagonist’s memories.
Apartment buildings, apartments, streets, and outdoor basketball courts set the scene for an era in which human relationships were put to the test, along with economic and social certainties.
The result is a 52-page graphic novel, with images that oscillate between the realistic and the abstract, and with a narrative rhythm that has been described as cinematic, almost like a music video.
A Different Interpretation of the LEX Universe
The creators do not simply attempt to «illustrate» a song. They use «Polykatoikies» as a starting point to tell their own story about family, absence, financial hardship, and life in the contemporary Greek urban landscape.
Dimitris-Chris Agaray explained in an interview with Daily the process by which the song's lyrics were transformed into a standalone comic story, centered precisely on the years of the crisis.
The publication has already become the focus of attention in the Greek comic book scene. It was presented at the Comicdom CON Athens 2026, at Technopolis in the City of Athens, where an exhibition featuring illustrations, panels, and rough sketches was held, along with a special discussion on adapting LEX’s song into a graphic novel.
The presentation in Kythira
Now «Polykatoikies» is heading to Kythira.
The presentation will take place Thursday, August 27, 2026, at 8:00 p.m., in the garden of the Mercato Bar, in collaboration with bookstores Book Cat.
An interesting encounter between contemporary Greek music and the ninth art, and an opportunity for the Kythira audience to get an up-close look at one of this year’s most distinctive Greek graphic novels.
