The confirmed cases of SARS-CoV-2 in Germany, rose by 65,371 in the past 24 hours to 5,195,321, figures released Thursday by the Robert Koch Institute, the country's epidemiological surveillance body, show.
This is an unprecedented number of cases for the second consecutive day; it is also the first time since the outbreak of the pandemic in Germany that the number of confirmed infections has exceeded 60,000 in one day.
The deaths of 264 patients due to complications of COVID-19 increased the death toll of the new coronavirus pandemic in the country to 98,538 dead so far, according to the same source.
