In uncharted waters the confrontation of the surveyor-engineer George Syralis with the Chairman of the Property Committee of Kythera and Antikythera, Evangelos Venardos. The public conflict not only continues, but intensifies, with Mr. Syrmalis' open letter to the local media on 12 March 2025, which sharply raises the tone.
This letter constitutes the latest development in a confrontation that is now taking on both legal and political dimensions. Mr.Syrmalis is coming back strongly supporting his allegations and addressing Mr Venardo personally. He presents his own evaluations on the case, responding point by point to the positions expressed by the President of the Domestic Property on March 6, addressing the municipal and local councillors who were the recipients of the Sirmalis report.
Mr Syrmalis complains attempted intimidation by «stragglers» and a a concerted effort to silence those who express different opinions, while stressing that Kythera «it's nobody's fiefdom». Εreiterates its complaints about encroachments on public land, demanding that the ownership titles of all the land parcels involved be made public and calling on Mr Venardo to prove his allegations. He also criticises the management of land with specific CERs, stressing that it is «beastly properties» that are not justified by any legal basis. Κannounces mismanagement in the Home Affairs Commission, stating road widening, Natura interventions and controversial quarrying deals. Requests the publication of licences and accuses the President Evangelos Venardos using his access to Commission data for personal attacks.
Finally, announces a complaint to the Public Prosecutor, the Ministry of Interior, the Decentralized Administration of Attica, the Urban Planning Department, the Forestry Department and the Land Registry, asking for investigate the legality of the declared land parcels. Also referred to in the Cosmas Tzortzopoulos, who - according to him - had complained of pressure and intimidation.

Report of Syrmalis to the Kythera Municipal Council - 5 March 2025
Mr. Syrmalis had sent a report to all members of the City Council, complaining that there was a «mutation» of land plots of the Domestic Property in private plots. He presented evidence such as aerial photographs, satellite images and contracts, which - according to him - prove that thousands of square metres of public land have been passed to the family of Mr. Venardos.
The full report of Mr. Syrmalis is not published for the time being despite the verbal permission of Mr Venardos, as it contains personal data and references to third parties.

Venard's reply - 6 March 2025
Taking an aggressive line, the chairman of the Domestic Property Committee rebutted the accusations, calling them “false and slanderous”. He points out that the farms complained of as trespassed were already cultivated since the period of occupation, while he speaks of expediencies related to the Land Registry and the decisions of the Council of State.

New letter from Syralis - 12 March 2025
Beyond the persistence in his complaints, Mr Syrmalis also turns his fire on Mr Venardos himself, accusing him of attempted manipulation and intimidation. In high tones, it announces new legal moves and calls for the full clarification of the case by the Planning Department, the Forestry Department and the Land Registry.

Escalation of the confrontation - Political and legal implications
The public exchange of accusations and documents does not seem to be heading towards a de-escalation. On the contrary, the conflict is now expanding and on a political level, as the Kythera Municipal Council is called upon to manage the case.
