A flagship project of the event, as part of the theme «People – Society», regarding the elements that make up the phenomenon ELEFSINA the present and the past.
By showcasing glimpses of the city’s present and past—what is figuratively referred to as the «DNA» or the collective subconscious of the place—the Exhibition Eleusis – Omo Museum, curated by the architect and museologist Eratos Koutsoudakis, seeks to interpret the city as an “Exhibit,” and invites the public on an exploration of Eleusis from antiquity to modern times, covering tradition and internal migration, the refugee experience, its iconic industrial development, its hard-fought labor history, the city’s relationship with the arts and Aeschylus—for whom it is the iconic birthplace—as well as its uniqueness and its Mysteries. At the same time, it pays homage to the origins of museum practice, honoring the Eleusinian collectors who preserve the artifacts of their city’s past with remarkable perseverance and care. Above all, it invites visitors on a journey to the very heart of its existence—to its people and the communities that make it up.
