We would like to inform you that, as part of the implementation of the program «Mosquito Control in the Attica Region for the years 2021–2023,» the following activities are continuing at an intensive pace: ground-based mosquito larviciding applications, which began in March 2022 (the 10th time in the municipalities of Troizinia-Methana and Poros, and the 9th time in the other municipalities). The Regional Unit of the Islands, having included the Municipality of Spetses in this program, carried out the first ground-based application for the year 2022 on June 16, 2022.
The planned applications will be carried out in the areas indicated as follows:
In addition, on June 23, 2022, aerial spraying will take place in the Municipality of Troizinia-Methana, covering the following areas:
- Lake Psifta
- Screw
- Agia Sotira
- Stella Maris Area
The Region of Attica has sent relevant correspondence to the relevant agencies in the municipalities of the Regional Unit to ensure that the effectiveness of the spraying operations is maximized in areas under their jurisdiction (inspection and repair of any water supply network leaks, regular cleaning of storm drains, technical interventions to prevent stormwater from pooling, regular removal of debris, periodic clearing and pruning of shrubbery, covering wells to prevent mosquitoes from escaping, etc.).
