«It is with sadness and emotion that we bid farewell to the great music composer and guitarist Noi Mavroudi, who died tragically on Tuesday night,» the KKE said in a statement.
«Notis Mavroudis belonged to the pioneers of the “New Wave”. With a creatively critical attitude towards any kind of “standardization” and basing all his work on the classical guitar, he carved his own unique path in music.
His melodies express the lyricism and quests of his generation in a time of trials and defeats, but with the hope for a brighter world never lost.
A student of the great Dimitris Fampas, he marked the evolution of Greek music as a virtuoso and teacher of classical guitar, with an international presence, but also as a composer through his excellent setting of great poets and his collaboration with great performers.
Notis Mavroudis, a child of a working-class family, spent the first two years of his life in Averoff Prison, as his mother was a political prisoner.
An integral part of his artistic creation was his sincere concern for the future of intellectual creation, culture and especially for children, the new generation. His musical work of high artistic value is his own answer-legacy to the great questions of every person who is concerned and worried,» the party's statement said.
The KKE expresses its sincere condolences to his family and relatives.
