On Friday 8 July 2022, the Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Affairs (responsible for Welfare and Social Solidarity) Ms. Domna Michailidou. The Deputy Minister was welcomed by the Mayor Mr. Efstratios Harhalakis and held a meeting with the participation of the four Deputy Mayors, the General Secretary of the Municipality, the President of the Municipal Port Fund and the President of the Primary Education Committee.
During the meeting, the Deputy Minister was briefed on a number of issues, both within her remit and more generally. In particular, there was a detailed briefing on the operation of the Municipal Kindergarten in Fratsias, but also on the need for the immediate completion of the tendering procedures for the new Nursery in Logothetianika, which has been funded with 300.000 € from the Region of Attica. In addition, emphasis was placed on the acute demographic problem of the islands with the Mayor of Kythera stressing that this issue was raised to the Prime Minister himself Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis in his recent meeting with the Mayors of the islands.
The visit concluded with a private meeting between the Deputy Minister and the Mayor and an exchange of souvenirs.
