The faction of the Minor Opposition «Free Kythera» issued a press release after the today's meeting of the City Council. Read below:
NO TO EMERGENCY WATER MEASURES: THE PETTY POLITICAL CONTRADICTIONS OF LITTLE PEOPLE.
At the 1st City Council the opposition did not show up (all of them, by order of Harhalakis, because their proposal seemed ’mediocre«) so that there would be no quorum and to avoid the outcry of the citizens for the mess of the water supply.
After the outcry for their absence, at the 2nd Board the opposition presented themselves (all of them, at the behest of Harhalakis as they admit, although the proposal remained «mediocre»), so that their desertion would be forgotten.
And of course, as genuine leaders, they refused (all together, at the behest of Harhalakis, as they confess) to apologize to the citizens for the above inconsistency, so as not to appear to regret the hypocritical attitude that was dictated to them.
And yet, after a 3-hour discussion removed the measures to which they did not agree, completing the mayor's mandate, with 6 votes against - 5 in favor of the opposition voted against (!!!!) the emergency measures for water scarcity (with which... agreed), so that «to come back to a complete proposal in the next City Council»! So that the opposition's motion would only be voted on if it was presented by the mayor. And let that be somewhere in ... winter, that's how much they really care.
Compatriots, we will continue to fight by all means, but in the face of the normalization of an administration through councillors who willingly sacrifice their dignity, the answer is to restore the importance of personal integrity in public life. We need the support and struggle of all of you.
