«ALL TOGETHER, KYTHERA - ANTI-KYTHERA»
Statement by Zacharias Souris, head of the major minority in the Kythera-Antikythera Board of Directors
«With concern we all read in a reputable news website of Kythera the views expressed by the Regional Governor Mr.Hardalias regarding the universal demand of Kytheria for the extension of the runway of the airport «Alexander Onassis».
I will address the substance of the statements in the very near future.
But I now call on the Mayor of Kythera-Antikythera, Mr.Harhalakis, to inform us:
-Does he agree with the views of Mr.Chardalias on the non-extension of the runway on the grounds that it is located in a NATURA area?;
Was he aware of these views? And what steps did he take to persuade Mr.Chardalias to reconsider them? Or was he aware of it and simply ignored it? ;
-Do you agree with not commissioning an environmental impact study?;
-How does it position itself on the views of the regional councillor Mr Katsikaris on «local interests» that prevent the extension of the corridor.
I note that the extension of the runway is a long-standing central demand of all tourism operators (and not only...).
I look forward to the Mayor's views.
