In a letter to the General Archiepiscopal Commissioner of the Holy Metropolis of Kythira, Fr. Panagiotis Megalokonomos, the leader of the largest minority faction, Zacharias Souris, requests official information and cooperation regarding developments in Livadi. The request concerns, on the one hand, the parking lot, for which the municipality has requested rent for its use, and, on the other hand, the sports field «Panagiotis Iereos Spyridonos Mageiras,» regarding which questions have been raised about ownership and the legality of its management. Mr. Souris emphasizes the need for institutional integrity, transparency, and unity to ensure clear procedures. The relevant letter follows.

General Archiepiscopal Commissioner of the Holy Metropolis of Kythira and Antikythira
Pastor of the Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos «Konteletous»
Notification.:

Subject: Request for official information and cooperation regarding parking areas and sports facilities in Livadi, Kythira.
Reverend Father Panagiotis,
In light of the recent decisions and announcements concerning both the parking lot in Livadi and the stadium’s operations «Panagiotis Iereos Spyridonos Mageiras,», I consider it necessary to request an official and clear update. The community of Livadi, as well as the entire island of Kythira, is following these developments with concern, and it is the duty of all of us to demonstrate institutional seriousness and responsibility, so that the current crisis remains under control and sincere solutions can be sought.
Regarding the parking lot, I would like to know whether, before the Ecclesiastical Council made its decision to impose a lease fee on the Municipality, the opinion of the Livadi Local Council was sought. This is an issue that directly affects the daily lives of residents and visitors and requires consultation with the area’s elected officials.
Regarding the sports field, please clarify whether it is owned by the Parish, under what bylaws the Youth Association that had taken over its management operated in the past, and whether elections have been held to elect a Board of Directors, as required by the operating regulations of any collective body. Furthermore, please inform us whether the young people who have submitted a request to the Local Property Committee for the allocation of a plot of land did so as the Livadi Youth Association or as part of another youth group outside the Association.
Your announcement also refers to «streamlining procedures.» This term, as it is phrased, raises legitimate questions, and it would be particularly helpful to know exactly which procedures are being referred to, so that we can determine how we can contribute institutionally to their resolution.
All of this, as you can imagine, creates confusion in society. There are too few of us to be at odds with one another. It is imperative that young people unite under a sports club that operates with transparency, legitimacy, and clear procedures. I declare that I will personally contribute only in this direction, because there is no room for games when it comes to young people and sports in Kythira.
My position is clear, I ask for clear communication, full disclosure, and sincere cooperation. The young people in our community need sports facilities, and residents need public spaces. Society expects transparency and accountability from all of us, and it is certain that we can ensure the common good if we act with seriousness and respect for our institutional roles.
Sincerely,
Zacharias I. Souris
Leader of the Largest Minority Party
«All Together, Kythira-Antikythira»
