The following was released by the Administrator’s Office of the General Hospital – Kythira Health Center «Trifylleio» published the final report and detailed statistics from the recent medical mission carried out by the team from «Doctors of the Aegean – PAGNI» on the island.
The response from residents was overwhelming, as a total of 925 people. Of these, 897 were patients with an AMKA number and 28 were patients without an AMKA number. The influx of patients to the outpatient clinics resulted in a striking total 1,501 medical procedures and tests (925 patient visits and 576 individual medical procedures).
The hospital administration once again expressed its heartfelt thanks to the members of the team for their selfless contribution, as well as to all the sponsors who contributed to the mission’s success.
Detailed data on medical clinics (Patients with AMKA)
According to the official data provided by the team, patient volume and medical procedures by specialty department were as follows::
- Orthopedics: The clinic with the highest number of patients, based on an examination of 154 patients.
- Ophthalmology: High turnout with 134 patients.
- Dermatology: The following were examined 111 patients.
- Radiology: Were served 64 patients, while a total of 97 ultrasounds, 78 X-rays and 10 CT scans.
- Gynecological & Cytological: The following took place 75 gynecological exams and an equal number (75) of transvaginal ultrasounds. At the same time, the following were carried out 54 Pap Test and 62 molecular tests.
- Endocrinology: The following were examined 75 patients and were held 75 ultrasounds.
- Urology: The following were examined 65 patients and were carried out 65 ultrasounds. The following also took place 2 surgical procedures (penile fracture/plastic surgery – phimosis, plastic reconstruction of the frenulum/chord).
- Dentistry: Served 55 patients. The following were conducted 51 composite resin fillings, 1 extraction, 2 cleanings, and 1 root canal treatment due to a cystic abscess. At the same time, the team visited schools on the island to provide information and administer fluoride treatments to the children.
- Vascular Surgery: The following were examined 47 patients, while the following took place 20 Venous Doppler and 8 ultrasound scans.
- Surgical: The following were examined 44 patients. The following took place 8 procedures, 5 biopsies and 1 breast self-exam. As part of this effort, one orthopedic surgery was performed (removal of a mass on the fifth finger phalanx).
- Pathology (General Practitioner): Reviewed 34 patients.
- Psychiatric: The following were examined 29 patients, and a special visit was also made to the Nursing Home on the island, where additional tests were conducted 10 patients.
