Samos is in the international media spotlight for unique travel experiences next season. According to Travel and Tour World, the island of Pythagoras is expected to capture the imagination of the British travel public thanks to new direct flights announced for 2026.
In an extensive article, the international tourist website with 20 million visitors calls Samos «a rising star among European destinations that will be preferred by new generations of travellers who want to combine everything, relaxation, good food, heavenly beaches, nature activities, leisure, rich history and endless tours».
In the context of the tribute, Travel and Tour World singles out Potami beach for its seductive exotic waters and the hiking in Kerki as an activity that remains unforgettable for the friends of walking tourism. At the same time, the Mirror has included Samos in the 31 new destinations that will have air links to British airports and which are expected to set new standards in the «map» of international tourism.
The promotion in the UK market is part of to the efforts of the Municipality of Western Samos which had started early and the investigations with a British Tour Operator for the launch of direct flights.
«We are exploiting the multiple potential of the destination with the aim of both establishing ourselves in established markets and opening up to new ones such as the UK. Our recent briefings at the WTM exhibition in London with travel networks, tour operators and international media confirm the strong interest of travellers in new destinations that have not been altered by over-tourism. In this context, the meeting with the Director of the EOT UK Office, Ms. Eleni Skarveli, regarding promotional issues and the prospects for future cooperation in the field of alternative tourism was productive.», stressed the Deputy Mayor of Tourism of the Municipality of Western Samos Vangelis Marnezos.
It is noted that in the context of the established GreekTravel Awards organised for the last four years by the UK EOT Office, Samos was awarded the distinction of top Greek destination for outdoor escapes after a vote by the British public.
