New emergency measures for coronavirus by the Municipality of Kythera

The influx of coronavirus cases in Kythera, triggered the reflexes of the competent authorities of the island, who announced additional measures.

The consecutive cases of the new coronavirus in Kythera the last two days, prompted the competent services of the municipality, to announce new, emergency measures to combat the pandemic, which come into force from Tuesday, 09/02/21.

Here is the relevant announcement.

Following the confirmation of coronavirus outbreaks on our island, the tracing of the contacts of which is in progress, the following emergency measures are announced with effect from Tuesday 09/02/2021 and until further notice:

  1. The public is not allowed to attend the municipal services (Town Hall and KEP) and each application must be submitted and processed only electronically. By way of exception and only in urgent cases, are allowed to attend the Municipality only by appointment and with mandatory use of a non-medical mask.
  2. Any kind of requests to the Municipality will be answered based on the actual time capabilities of the Service, as they have now been shaped according to the above emergency measures.
  3. All the collective bodies of the Municipality will meet either through videoconference or by rotation as provided by law (the method is the sole responsibility of the president of each institution).
  4. The operation of the Municipal Library is suspended.
  5. The operation of municipal playgrounds, Gym Parks and municipal sports facilities is suspended.
  6. Citizens are asked to take into account ONLY the instructions of the competent authoritiesa) the Ministry of Health (https://www.moh.gov.gr), b) the National Public Health Agency (https://eody.gov.gr) and c) the General Secretariat for Civil Protection (https://www.civilprotection.gr/el) and to be informed ONLY from the official websites of these authorities.
  7. Checks on compliance with the restrictive measures will be increased and tightened.
  8. Rapid tests will continue to be targeted and citizens are asked to cooperate with the authorities, as safeguarding public health is a duty for all of us, both collectively and individually.
  9. The Mayor Mr. Eustratios Charhalakis in an urgent letter today, asked the responsible Deputy Minister Mr. Niko Hardalia become mandatory coronavirus detection test for any citizen travelling to the islands for any reason.
