When, on July 9, 2014, His Eminence Metropolitan Seraphim of Piraeus Seraphim stated that the proposal by the Deputy Public Prosecutor of the Athens Misdemeanor Court, which had been unlawfully made public at the time,concerning Mr. Vangelis Marinakis was «unsubstantiated, lacking substantive evidence, flawed, groundless, and unfounded,» and that this inadmissible case was «a farce,» many had rushed to criticize him.
Unfortunately, them, the legal reality has fully vindicated, on all levels, the first municipal councilor of the Municipality of Piraeus and owner ofOlympiacos FC, Mr. Vangelis Marinakis, who was acquitted of the baseless charges of allegedly forming a criminal organization and match-fixing, in a recent final ruling by the competent Criminal Court.
This full vindication of the noble and great benefactor of the city and the Metropolis of Piraeus, Mr. Vangelis Marinakis, constitutes a vindication of his exceptional family and the multitude of his associates, and demonstrates his indisputableintegrity, his leadership qualities, and his indomitable and unyielding spirit. At the same time, it exposed the insatiable and vile pettiness of his occasional slanderers, who, moving in the darkness of their own wickedness, cannot bear the nobility and the light of his benevolence.
