«Free Kythera»: strong criticism of the elections in Enchorios against the background of interests

The faction describes the process as a «bunch of rude, uncultivated middle-aged and elderly men», who admire each other

In a press release the municipal faction «Free Kythira» exerts a fierce Review on elections of the Domestic Property Committee, which features predictable and typical, arguing that the two factions serve common interests around public works. The faction expresses disappointment at the absence of a meaningful discussion on critical issues of the island, such as youth flight and infrastructure, and denounces the administration's satisfaction with small achievements.

In its bulletin the party describes the process as a «a bunch of rude, uncultivated middle-aged and over-aged men», which admire each other, without giving the floor to the 29-year-old candidate Eleni Tallarou, which it highlights as the real winner. With her candidacy, she exposes the nakedness of the system and highlights the need for change. Read on:

Ultimately Who Loses?;

Admittedly, the Domestic Property elections were formal before they even started. That's because we already knew that the two like factions would support the same candidate for president. Because while they disagree on other minor issues, when it comes to perpetuating the vicious system of public works production, they agree.

In yesterday's sad proceedings, not a single person from the coalition and the major supposed opposition said a word about the abandonment of the island to its fate: the exodus of young people, the economy, infrastructure, tourism, primary production, the environment, energy, social justice, helping the weak, nothing, nothing, nothing. For two hours, all we heard were mutual congratulations for the honesty of the Administration (as if it were an achievement), for the «big fuss» made about advertising the pilgrimages, and for disorderly concessions in the face of «insurmountable» bureaucratic difficulties when it came to getting something done legally (the campsite to work, the cave to open, the building in Gythio to receive rent, the toilets on the beaches to be built, etc.). This satisfaction that the body of mediocrities feels from solving 1/5 of the minor problems that it sets itself as a glorious goal (since that's all it dares to address) spreads misery and frustration to all free, creative citizens.

So we can tell you with certainty that in the next elections we will again be discussing whether the development policy of Enchorios has helped our island. And as much as we would like to be proven wrong, unfortunately the President has already shown what he is most interested in. In fact his programmatic statements were «we will go after the people». Without having any desire to waste time telling him what is right or wrong (after all Vangelis has shown that he does not accept criticism) we simply disagree with this model of management of the EEPKA. And we finally find that the big winner of these elections is Mrs. Tallarou Eleni. We explain why:

  1. With her candidacy she has proved what we were saying during the election campaign. The two combinations are in fact the same and have a common interest: public works. (Some are the orchestrators and the rest follow without perhaps realizing it).
  2. Once again a young man from our island was not afraid to expose himself in an unequal electoral battle, claiming the obvious. Since we are not happy with the administration it must change.
  3. The EPCA has been guilty of many errors such as the illegal road openings in Natura areas, the bad dispute with Spyros in Capsali, the disputes with the people who collect salt and chebrews. I am sure all these people will wonder in future disputes what it would have been like with Mrs Tallarou as President.
  4. Although our strength in the electoral college was limited to four people, our proposal received 6 votes which means that some free spirits recognized this serious candidacy for a different approach to this most serious institution.
  5. Even semiotically approaching yesterday's proceedings, one will see a mob of rude uncultivated middle-aged and elderly men admiring each other for 2 hours and a brazen mayor in what he called the «supreme moment for democracy» not even giving for A LOT. to a 29-year-old candidate when everyone knew the outcome. Beauty is a threat and the possibility of having a say and exposing nakedness is terrifying. Without even speaking, Helen made everyone unable to look her in the eye and proved that none of them can stand up to her on equal terms.

Dear compatriots, certainly some people are offended by what has been said, but it is certainly not a personal issue and we are not attacking individuals but institutional persons. We are sure that we must aim high and not settle for mediocrity.
