The restoration of the Municipal Properties of Mitata begins

Approved by the Court of Auditors and the contract for the project was signed «Maintenance, promotion, restoration and reuse of municipal properties of Mitata village (Old Board, Community Office and surrounding area)».

The project, with a study budget of 850.000€, concerns the utilisation of municipal buildings in Mitata as follows:

• The building of the Primary School will be converted into a multi-purpose hall with the basic use of «Cinema Club» (with the unblocking of the existing basement)
• The old community building will be renovated and will function as a municipal building «general purpose» for the needs of the Municipality of Kythera in cultural matters and the support of cultural events.
• An open outdoor «theatre» with 80 seats and bleachers is created at the lower level of the plot and the surrounding area is formed
• Modern lighting and air-conditioning systems will be installed in all buildings, as well as fire safety systems for indoor and outdoor areas.

The contractor of the project, after an Open Electronic Tender, was the company «N. & K. GOLIOPOULOS ATE» and the amount of the contract after the discount obtained (27.13%) is 685.483,87€ (including VAT). The correctness of the procedures followed by the Services, the tender committee and the bodies of the Municipality of Kythera was checked and approved by the Audit Council without any remark.

The project is funded by the «ANTONIS TRITSIS» programme» as Sub-project 2 of the action «Refurbishment of emblematic buildings of the Municipality of Kythera». We recall that Subproject 1  «Maintenance, promotion, restoration and reuse of the “Vitzamaneion School” and adjacent municipal properties (Police Station) in Chora Kythera» has already been contracted and will start in the autumn as the relocation of the police station has to take place first. It is also important to note that the studies for both sub-projects were carried out by the Network of Municipalities of the Attica Islands through a Programme Contract with the Municipality of Kythera and funding from the «FILODEMOS» Programme.

The Municipality of Kythera, therefore, utilizing and combining all possible funding, implements two very important building projects with a total budget of 1.370.738€ without spending even 1€ of own resources from the maturation to their implementation.

The deadline for completion of the project is 10 months.
