Dear Mr. Mayor,
Following my briefing at our private meeting on 27of August that you do not accept my declaration of candidacy of 25-08-2023 on your electoral list for the next local elections, on the grounds that ‶about ten of our compatriots have demanded it for different reasons each‶, I have submitted to you my resignation dated 28-08-2023 from the office of Deputy Mayor and from being a member of all City committees.
Due to the serious matters on the agenda of the next day's Finance Committee on 29-08-2023, you asked me and I accepted to temporarily postpone my resignation in order not to disturb the smooth operation of the Municipality during the election period.
So while I swallowed my bitterness and avoided any public statement in order not to create a problem on your way to the upcoming elections, you indulged in statements of misinformation and slander against me for the reason of your decision, such as: ‶I used the municipality for my personal benefit‶ , ‶you conducted a poll which showed that I would have thrown you out by 300 votes when I would have got no more than 50‶, ‶I had planned it (really planned what?????)‶ and other great things....
In the name of whatever cooperation we have had over these four years, I believe that you ought to take the responsibility to reveal to me the real reason for my rejection and not to resort to funny excuses, as from the beginning of my term of office until today you were fully informed and in agreement with my every action and how I handled the serious and non-serious issues under my responsibility.
Because my character and my public life so far do not allow me to continue to ‶I play‶ the role of deputy mayor in order to maintain my salary, and how much more so because you have in practice abolished me, because in the life of every man, however insignificant (like me) or important (like you), there are the difficult moments when you have to decide «who he will go with and who he will leave» and finally because I don't usually defecate where I kiss (like my former colleague, deputy mayor, partner and fellow traveller), I hereby tender my resignation from the office of deputy mayor and from membership of all committees of the Municipality in which I have had the honour of being nominated or appointed as a member.
I wish you the people with whom you have chosen to walk with, to light your way in your further political career.
