Saint Spyridon in Kythera

From Eleni Charou's blog.

In Kythira, we honor Saint Spyridon in our churches:

1) At the Church of Saint Spyridon of Darmaroi in Kapsali.
2) At the Church of Saint Spyridon in Manitochori, in the community of Harou.
3) At the Church of Saint Spyridon in Livadi, in the Macheroti neighborhood.
4) At the Church of Saint Spyridon during the summer festivities hosted by the Vlantis-Chiotis family.
5) At the Church of Saint Spyridon in Potamos.

In Kapsali, on the hill of the same name, in a very picturesque setting, the Church of Saint Spyridon serves as the cemetery church and was privately owned by the Darmaros family. It was consecrated in 1645. In 1681, when Parthenios Darmaros was the abbot, Helene, the widow of the Venetian nobleman Carlo Querini, along with her son Piero, donated a vineyard to the church, with the stipulation that the parish priest commemorate her family’s names.

The people of Kythira hold Saint Spyridon in high esteem, and in some churches there is an icon depicting the three saints of the Ionian Islands together.
