A criminal complaint was filed with the competent Public Prosecutor for Misdemeanors in Thessaloniki against the officials of HEDNO as well as any other responsible parties, was filed by the mayor of Thermi, Theodoros Papadopoulos, regarding the prolonged power outage that occurred on July 8 and 9 in the community of Trilofos, as well as the prolonged, though shorter, power outages in the communities of Kardia and Plagiari on July 9.
In his complaint, Mr. Papadopoulos, after describing the power outages in detail, emphasizes that «the responsible authorities were completely absent, and there was no response whatsoever to the residents» appeals. Not only did none of the HEDNO officials provide residents with even the slightest update, but they also did not answer their calls—nor did they answer my calls.”.
It also emphasizes that «the above areas frequently experience widespread power outages that have significant consequences for residents and, of course, for local businesses—such as the destruction ofhousehold electrical appliances, the destruction of merchandise, the closure of food chain stores (supermarkets), entertainment venues, etc., and, above all, they endanger the health, physical well-being, and the very lives of residents in these areas of the municipality, who rely on medical equipment and machines that cease to function when the power is cut off.».
