Cases of coronavirus have skyrocketed as the government moves casually as the country faces a new wave. In the last 24 hours, 23,748 cases (including 3,664 reinfections) were recorded, the most since March 29 when 28,933 infections were detected.
Another 16 people died, while the number of people on life support rose to 95.
Specifically, according to the EODY report, the new laboratory-confirmed cases of the disease (persons) recorded in the last 24 hours were 20,084. The total number of persons infected was 3,644,889 (daily change +0.5%), of which 48.6% were males.
The number of possible new reinfections recorded in the last 24 hours was 3,664 and since the beginning of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic the total number is estimated at 165,417 (4.3% of the total number of positive results).
There are 16 new deaths of COVID-19 patients, with a total of 30,206 deaths recorded since the start of the epidemic. 95.7% had underlying disease and/or age 70 years or older.
The number of hospitalized intubated patients is 95 (60.0% men). Their median age is 71 years. 91.6% have an underlying disease and/or age 70 years or older. Among intubated patients, 41 (43.16%) are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and 54 (56.84%) are fully vaccinated. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 4,726 patients have been discharged from ICUs.
New COVID-19 patient admissions to hospitals in the territory are 231 (daily change +10%). The seven-day average admission rate is 208 patients. The median age of cases is 37 years (range 0.2 to 112 years), while the median age of deaths is 80 years (range 0.2 to 106 years).
