In Error at a private laboratory in Thessaloniki is due, according to the Deputy Regional Governor of Kilkis Andreas Vergidis, the announcement of 102 cases yesterday in the region.
As stated in a related announcement, a private laboratory in Thessaloniki «delayed notifying the EODY the results of inspections it conducted from November 24 through yesterday (December 7), and it did so cumulatively, », with the result that the tests conducted on those days accounted for 94 of the 102 cases announced by EODY on the afternoon of December 7.".
«The announcement that the daily number of cases had surged to 102 in the Regional Unit of Kilkis, which—as it turned out—was due to an inexplicable error by a private laboratory in Thessaloniki, undermines public confidence at a critical time for the effectiveness of measures aimed at protecting and further safeguarding public health from the invisible “enemy,” the COVID-19», Mr. Vergidis emphasizes, describing it as «unthinkable and unacceptable that, given the times we are living in, the local community is being disrupted by omissions, errors, or negligence on the part of those responsible, », who are called upon to carry out—above all—with a sense of responsibility, a task of the utmost social importance.".
According to the Deputy Regional Governor of Kilkis «this is an incident that, at the very least, makes it imperative to conduct an investigation in order to restore the credibility of the relevant authorities and the trust of the public.».
