In a press release the municipal faction of the major opposition “First the Man” informs the Kytherians and Antikytherians for the reasons of abstention from today's meeting of the Municipal Council. Read below:

We inform the citizens of our islands that we abstain from today's meeting of the municipal council of the Municipality of Kythera protesters the continuous deterioration of the institution and the role of the institution.
A few days ago, once again, at the meeting of the Finance Committee, the members were invited, without any debate, to vote by e-mail on serious issues and funding of several thousand euros.
The city council convenes tonight to decide for or against replacing two school board members, the allocation of annual funding to school boards, the statewide copy-paste plan for wildfire response and the division of communities for building inventory. In fact, the wildfire issue was never sent to our emails and the councillors were asked to go in and find it themselves from clarity!
This mockery and degradation of the role of the city council must stop immediately. Because it is not only the city council that is being degraded but also the democratic mandate given by the people of Kythera 3 years ago to all of us.
Unfortunately this attitude is a political decision of the current administration of the Municipality of Kythera. Very soon, in the forthcoming municipal elections, it will be judged for this. But from today, all the councillors, including those of the majority, should react, stand up to the circumstances and reflect on the mandate given to them by the people of Kythera and Antikythera.
