It seems that ANT1's staff now officially includes Antonis Kanakis, who has recently been in negotiations with both Open and the channel of Maroussi, for his return to television.
According to what journalist Tina Messaropoulou reported on Alpha's show “Happy Day”, the famous presenter has agreed with ANT1, with the deal being finalized on Sunday night (10/10).
As for when the satirical show will be aired “Radio Arbyla”, Tina Messaropoulou said that the show is expected to premiere in November and will succeed the station's newscast, which of course is going to cause several changes in the rest of the station's programming.
It is recalled that Antonis Kanakis had left ANT1 in 2018, after 21 years of cooperation, with his departure then falling like a “bomb” and being, as he had written in his statement, for reasons of «principle» and «breaking trust» with the TV station of Maroussi.
The announcement of Antonis Kanakis' departure from ANT1:
«After my efforts that lasted for about one and a half months in order to find a consensual way to end our cooperation, I am today in the not at all happy position to inform you of my decision to leave ANT1 after twenty-one (21) years.
After such a long period of time, a number of mainly principled and trust-breaking reasons could have led me to such a decision.
I choose to mention only one, so that on this occasion some things can be put in their place.
Relatively recently a paradoxical rumour has been cultivated in the television background, according to which I was charged with decisions that obviously could not have been mine.
Decisions that, as is self-evident, were taken and announced by ANT1, even before I was assigned the artistic curatorship of the late night zone (which, despite the announcements made at the time, has never been implemented until today).
Throughout the time that this rumour, which is completely contrary to my professional ethics, was cultivated and made public, ANT1 never denied or clarified in any way that these decisions were its own, as I believe it should have done when they were publicly charged to one of its collaborators.
On the contrary, even actively, he contributed to the creation and the spreading of this false rumour, that is, that certain choices that exclusively the channel itself made and applied regarding the persons and shows of last season and this season, were my choices or suggestions (!!!!).
Of course, the existence of any false rumour could have played no part in my decision to leave.
However, ANT1's attitude towards it and its contribution to its creation and dissemination played a decisive role.
Throughout the years of our television presence, I believe that we have stood together with my colleagues far away from all the fictions and the ill-intentioned background and foreground of the television industry, with our work as our only vehicle and reason and nothing else.
Leaving ANT1 after twenty-one years was a painful decision for me and despite the efforts of the station's management to reverse my choice, the reasons that led me here make it irreversible.
It was undoubtedly a rare, long-lasting and highly successful collaboration.
Twenty-one years is a lifetime, and in it strong human relationships have been built.
To all the people at ANT1 who have worked with me over the years, I want to express my heartfelt personal thanks.
Regardless of everything that led me to this decision, I owe a big thank you to the ANT1 TV station and to Thodoris Kyriakou.
