Today’s demonstration is being organized by labor and seafarers« unions, student and high school associations, anti-fascist organizations, as well as left-wing parties and organizations. The demonstration marks the culmination of this year’s »Anti-Fascist September” events, which are taking place at the Lipasma Multipurpose Center in Drapetsona.
Pavlos Fyssas, a musician also known as Killah P, was murdered on the night of September 17–18, 2013, in Keratsini by Giorgos Roupakias, a member of Golden Dawn. The murder was a pivotal event in the criminal investigation into the organization’s activities and the trial that followed.
The «Pavlos Killah P. Fyssas» Association states in this year’s call for participation that, thirteen years later, the memory of Pavlos Fyssas remains linked to the values of solidarity, dignity, and freedom, calling for continued action against fascism.
The recent release of Ilias Kasidiaris also adds particular significance to this year’s anniversary. KEERFA, commenting on this development, maintains that his release does not invalidate the court rulings regarding Golden Dawn and calls for mass participation in today’s march.
Calls for action have also been issued by the Piraeus Labor Center, the PPA Dockworkers’ Union, ENEDEP, and maritime workers’ unions, while the Piraeus Student Coordinating Committee is calling on students and teachers to participate in the commemorative events. Announcements regarding the anniversary and the demonstration have been issued by, among others, the KNE, SYRIZA-PS, the New Left, MERA25, and ANTARSYA.
Thirteen years after the murder, Keratsini is once again the focal point of the events commemorating Pavlos Fyssas, with the gathering beginning at 5:30 p.m. and the march to follow.
